Education in Somalia

Hello everyone, in this blog post I will be writing about Education in Somalia.

Education system:
Education in Somalia is divided into 3 parts: Primary, secondary, tertiary.
Primary education:
Primary education features 9 compulsory subjects: Arabic, Islamic studies, Somali, Physical education, English, Mathematics, Science, Arts and Crafts. Primary students are taught for periods lasting 35 and 40 minutes, per week.
Secondary Education:
Secondary Education in Somalia is offered for 4 years to pupils aged 15-18. In Somalia, secondary students are taught 10 subjects: Arabic, Islamic Studies, Somali, Mathematics, Science, Physical Education, arts and craft, Physics, Biology, and Chemistry. All subjects are compulsory except Physical Education.
Tertiary education:
Tertiary education in Somalia refers to completion of secondary education.
In north-western Somaliland region, tertiary academic instruction is provided by the University of Hergeisa, Adams University College, International Horn University and Somaliland University of technology.
Education Spending:
The government of Somalia spends 2% of its money on education.  It's rank is 87 which is pretty bad.
Literacy rate:
Literacy rate in Somalia is 50% of total population. Literacy rate for men is 36% and for women is 14%. I think Somalia should spend more money on education because their spending and literacy rate are both low. I hope these kids get a better future.
I think we can make a change in Somalia’s future by donating money and internet resources like laptops and desktops. I hope all the kids in Somalia get better future.

Education in Australia

Hello everyone, in this post I am going to talk about education in Australia.

School system:
Education in Australia has 3 parts; Primary education, Secondary education and tertiary education.
Basically, primary education is elementary education, secondary education is high school and tertiary education is university. Education in Australia is compulsory between the ages of 5 and 15 depending on the state or territory and date of birth.

Literacy rate in Australia:

The literacy rate in Australia for men and women is the same so the literacy rate in Australia is 99% which is pretty good. I think the future of Australia is bright.

Education spending:
Government of Australia spends 4.6% of its money on education however not many children are not going to school. Australia spends a pretty good amount of money on education but still not all children go to school. Australia’s rank on education is 58 which is not good and not bad. It’s in the middle (so-so).

Schools:
The schools in Australia are categorised into two groups: Government schools and Catholic schools. Government schools are free to attend for Australian citizens and permanent residents while Catholic schools usually charge attendance fees. In addition to attendance fees; stationary, textbook, uniforms, school camps are not covered by government either.

I think that children in Australia are so lucky because the literacy rate in Australia is 99% for both boys and girls. Some countries like Africa have so little education, primarily because of poverty.  Since Australia is a stable country with an established economy, it's bright.

Bullying

Hi everyone, in this post I am going to talk about bullying.
There are many kind of bullying, but I am going to talk about bullying in schools.

What’s bullying:
Bullying is a pattern of aggressive behavior meant to hurt or cause discomfort to other people. Bullies always have more power than victims. Their power comes from physical size, strength and support from their group. Bullying is a major problem in some schools. While school violence has dropped in past years, reports of bullying have increased.
In the paragraph below, I am going to show you bullying rate in Canada and America.
Bullying rate in Canada:
                 Number of Percents

The chart above describes the bullying rate in Canada. The chart shows that the rate has decreased all the way to high school. The chart also shows that  it's higher in middle school which is so bad. As the chart shows, boys are bullied more then the girls are.

Bullying rate in America:
The chart above shows the bullying rate in America. It has way more people bullied and injured during the year of 2007. If we compare this chart to the chart above, they almost have a same result which means bullying rate in America is almost same compared to the bullying rate in Canada.

Bullying has become a part of education. Every year so many people are bullied in so many places, that they commit suicide. Here are the consequences.
The consequences:
As a result of being bullied, victims may experience different kinds of mental problems. Victims may have more sadness, sleep difficulties, low self-esteem, headaches, stomach pain and general tension. They can also be victims of psychological stress, depression, panic disorders. Psychological stress can cause victim’s body to be less resistant to disease and infections and they can get sick more often and depression can also take victims life.
Bullying update:
In Europe, 1900 children committed suicide due to depression of bullying and 2 million children were infected with some kind of psychological or emotional problem.

What can you do to stop a bully?
1.    If you see somebody being bullied, go tell a teacher right away.
2.   It can also help a victim if you stand up for them.
3.  Don’t join in bullying.
4.  Don’t spread the rumors. Let it end on you.
5.  Offer help to the victim when the bully is gone.

Facts about bullying:
·      1 in every 7 students in grade k-12 is either a bully or a victim of bullying.
·      A bullied child cannot stop bullying without outside help.
·      Bullied children are often afraid to speak up loud.
·      Bullying is a serious act that has immediate and long term consequences for a child who is being bullied.
·      Acts of bullying are often invisible to teachers and parents.

Here are some pictures of the children being bullied:

Now it’s time for a video about bullying. This video is a bout a  bullied kid who turns out to be the survivor:

I hope you enjoyed it!!!!

Comparing education

               Comparing Education

Hi everyone.  In this post I am going to compare Canada’s education to education in Pakistan

                            Literacy rate

Pakistan:
The picture below describes the literacy rate in Pakistan. The chart shows that the literacy rate is from 1951 10 2009.  The chart also shows that only 45% of females can read and write and 69%of males can read and write. Pakistan has 4 provinces. The total average literacy rate in Baluchistan is 45%, the average in Sindh is 59%, the average in Punjab is 59% and the average in Sarhad is 45%.

Canada:
The chart below describes literacy rate in Canada. You can see how many children have completed their education in each province in Canada. Canada's literacy rate improved 20% since 1998.

                                 $Money spent

Pakistan:
Pakistan spends most of it's money on the defence of the country and leaves aside little for education.  Pakistan has failed to provide it's country with primary education, but for country's long term stability it's more important then spending on defence and security. As you can look up on the Internet there are 196 countries in the world today. Pakistan’s rank on spending money on education is 126. Isn’t it bad? Yes, it is bad because the country spent 2.6% of its money on education. I see that the future of this country is not bright at all.

Canada:
Canada is a huge country and it just has a little population. The country spends 5.3% of its money on its education. The rank of this country is 49th compared to the whole world. Well, it’s not that good but at least it's better than Pakistan. This country at least cares about its education. It seems like this country has a better future.

                    Children that go to school

Pakistan:
Well right now, the total population in Pakistan is 173,593,380. But the bad thing is only 63 % of Pakistani children finish primary school education. Furthermore only 68% of Pakistani boys and 72% of girls reach grade 5. When they finish their education they sit home and do nothing because there are not enough jobs in Pakistan for everyone. That’s why the children don't end up literate.

Canada:
In Canada, most of the children go to school. 99% of the  children in Canada go to school. The total population of children in Canada right now is 5.6. Canada provides it's children with every bit of education. The children here are so lucky. I hope it goes like this forever. The 1% of children that do not go to school is because they don't like studying. Their parents send them to school but they go somewhere else instead. That happens a lot in  Canada.

                                         Schools

Pakistan:
Government school:
This is a picture of a classroom in Pakistan. As you can see, the classroom is not that equipped because it’s not a private school. It’s a government school. In this picture there are no desks and they are sitting on the floor.

Government school:                             private school:

On the right side, there is a private school. As you can see the children are sitting on desks and the class room is fully decorated. That’s because private schools cost charges to provide children with education. They take money. That’s why it’s so beautiful. Government schools have no charges. That’s why it’s not that beautiful.

Canada:
Below is a public and a private school in Canada. It’s so modern because there are no charges and these people care about education. Public schools also take there children to many trips.

In private schools, they take fee but they also provide the children with education. A fact about private school is; they are increasing the charges. But they are also looking forward for many advanced programs.

My point in this paragraph is that Pakistan don't care about it's education .They provide students with no equipment and the class room is not decorated. The environment also effects children's study. Canada cares about education and also environment in which the children studies.

And here is a private school:

Well now it’s time for a video:

Here is video about a school in Pakistan. The video shows a description about a government and a little bit description about a private school:

SOLUTION ABOUT EDUCATION

In this post, I am going to talk about solution about education in Pakistan and I am going to answer some question that couple of people had asked.
1-      What can we do about children who are working hard instead of studying?
2-     Why does this situation exist?
3-     Why can’t the children go to school?

This situation exists because most of the people are too poor so they can’t send their children to school.
Instead of sending their children to school they take them to work with them.
We can help these children not go to work by donating them some money or visit Pakistan and build a school for them so they can go to school like us.
